GnuCash is now available for Windows users too!
So you'd like to spend more time in Linux but you have to use your Quicken to pay the bills? You could use CodeWeavers or WINE or you could work toward throwing off the Windows yoke altogether for good by switching your stuff to GnuCash first. Use Windows for now - switch to Linux later. GnuCash is probably a bit more advanced than most Quicken/MSMoney type users might be used to. It uses tried and true "double entry" accounting methods (invented hundreds of years ago by an Italian of course) utilizing accounts instead of "catagories" like the other ones use. You can install it on your (or a friend's) Windows box and give it a whirl. Use the tutorial to learn how to set up income and expense accounts properly, post invoices, print bills to send to your customers or just use it to pay your household bills. It's GPL and that makes it real free software! Post your success stories on our site! Southwest Florida GNU/Linux Users G? Enjoy! - Frank |

As being a new Linux explorer, I figured I could try GnuCash to further my progress in escaping the wrath of M$. So far everything is working out. I have the past 3 years of M$ Money transactions all in my GnuCash program. This couldn't of been any easier.
1. Enter M$ Money or Quicken and export a QIF file strictly formatted. If you choose loosely format, this will not work. 2. Once you export the file, boot to Linux and import QIF file in GnuCash. This brought up every little detail up from my previous money program. It's as easy as two simple steps, two more simple steps to freedom. Thank you Frank. This was very helpful and entertaining. >(* . *)< |
